The complete – and largest collection with objects from around 150 years of match history in the world, consisting of around 3,000 match boxes, clearly summarized in around 600 lots, will be called up on August 26th, 2023 from around 11.30 a.m.
The artistically designed boxes for matches come from all over the world, made of bronze, tin, copper, bakelite, wood, ceramics, porcelain, plastic and other materials using all artistic techniques.
The collection, lovingly put together by Wolf-Rüdiger Reinhardt over many decades, is being auctioned off for reasons of age and is nationally known through various reports from the media. It represents an unbelievable treasure for every collector and lover of arts and crafts and design: the variety of artefacts relating to fire and flames, dating back to the year 1800, is almost unmanageable.
