We auction a wide range of items:

Personal advice

As a traditional auction house, we place great emphasis on personal consultation tailored specifically to the individual interests and desires of our clients. Our team of experts is always available to assist with any questions regarding the auction and the items.

Condition report

If you are unable to attend the preview in person, you can request a condition report for the item of interest. Our experts will then create a detailed description of the condition and send you detailed photos.

Secure and Transparent Bidding Process

We rely on cutting-edge technology for accurate and secure bid handling. This allows real-time auction tracking and creates a high level of trust among our clients through transparency and integrity.

Important information

By placing a bid, whether in person, by phone, through written correspondence, or digitally, you accept our general auction terms and conditions. You can read them in full here.

Purchased items can be paid for and collected on the day of the auction against an invoice. Bidders who have not participated in person will receive the invoice by mail after the auction, and by email as well, provided we have an email address on file. International bidders will generally receive their invoice by email. If you have indicated a shipping request on your bid form, the invoice will already include shipping costs (without guarantee). If you have marked ‘Pick-up’ on the bid form, we ask you to collect the items within two weeks at our premises or arrange for collection. If you have not marked either shipping or pick-up, we will assume you wish to have the items shipped. Payment of the invoiced shipping costs will be considered as a shipping order, and your billing address as the shipping address. If you still wish to pick up the goods personally, we only refund paid shipping costs under certain conditions. Please inform us of your shipping request when placing your bid, as well as any different shipping address from the billing address, in good time. A premium of 27% incl. VAT is added to the hammer price. Since VAT is only charged on the commission, i.e., the auction service provided domestically, and not on the goods, no VAT refund is possible in case of possible export of the items.

Bidders whose purchased goods cannot be shipped by parcel due to size, weight, or fragility must collect or have them collected within 10 days (see also our General Terms and Conditions). We are happy to recommend a transportation company for this purpose. Please note that for all artworks subject to the resale right according to Section 26 of the Copyright Act (see https://www.bildkunst.de/vg-bild-kunst/faq/folgerecht), we charge a 2% fee on the hammer price.”

Items listed in the catalog are called up at the stated reserve price. Bidding increases from €0 to €200 by €10, then in approximately 10% increments, although the auctioneer reserves the right to deviate from this. If there is no written bid or only one, the call is made at the reserve. With multiple written bids, the call is made at about 10% above the second highest written bid. Written bids are only utilized to the extent necessary to outbid the previous offer by one step (approximately 10%). Therefore, you can receive the item for much less than your maximum bid. In the case of written bids of the same amount, the order of bid receipt determines the outcome.

For “no-limit offers” (o.L.), the auctioneer starts with the highest possibly existing written bid.

If you place bids below the reserve price listed in the catalog, we are obliged to ask the consignor for approval. If your underbid is exceeded or the item is sold at the reserve price, you may not necessarily be informed. For items in the post-auction sale, we can usually grant a discount of 10%.

Payment can be made in cash, by EC card, by check (for customers known to us only), or by bank transfer. For payments made by credit card, we have to charge a fee of 5% incl. VAT on the invoice amount. Invoices are to be settled within 10 days of invoicing.

We charge 19% VAT on our premium and shipping costs, not on the auctioned item itself, meaning we tax our services provided in Germany. A VAT refund is possible for foreign clients who are art dealers and have an EU VAT number they can provide to us: In this case, we issue the invoice without VAT. For non-EU clients, the invoice must include VAT until the export of the item has been confirmed by customs. This means that VAT must be paid in advance and can only be refunded once we have the customs documents confirming the export.

Paid items can be collected during the ongoing auction, provided they are easily accessible to our staff (please speak to us!). Written bidders whose auctioned goods cannot be shipped must collect them or have them collected within 10 days (see also our General Terms and Conditions). We are happy to assist in arranging a transport company.

To avoid unnecessary waiting times during collection, we request timely pre-registration: This allows us to prepare your purchased items in advance.

Please note: Our premises are always closed on the Tuesday before the auction, as well as on Sunday and Monday following the auction.
