IWC Scarabaeus Fuchs gentleman’s pocket watch, sprung cover, limited 84/2500, 18ct. GG, 750/000GG, Ref. 5420 from 1982, from Switzerland, front with Scarabaeus in swirl pattern, back with sun symbol and sign of the universe, both sides polished and satin-finished, the dial with raised sun face, 2 gold hand-worked snake hands with blackened tips, black inlaid arab. Arabic numerals inlaid in black in the bezel, cover with dedication and signature engraving ”Ernst Fuchs”, the entire case in extremely solid construction, hand-wound, Cal. 982 F., finely decorated with a scroll pattern, blued screws, fine adjustment by swan neck, anchor escapement, the movement behind a glass cover, movement runs precisely, watch with a diameter of 56mm, height 18mm, total weight approx. 186.99g, with 2 boxes for the papers and the watch, in an elegant wooden box with veneers from the rootstock of a walnut tree, with the guarantee documents, the rate performance certificate, as well as a booklet with explanations about the artist Prof. Ernst Fuchs. According to the brochure, the lead time for each clock was 18 months. The case was designed by Professor Ernst Fuchs and completed by the world-famous bronze caster Venturi. The clock has remained virtually untouched since the 1980s and has not been polished. This clock was originally intended to be produced in an edition of 2,500 pieces. In reality, it was probably only a fraction of that. All examples that have been brought back onto the market to date have lower numbers engraved on them. Today, it is assumed that only around 150 pieces were produced in 18-carat gold. This watch comes with the original Hang Tag and a leather case, all in exceptionally good condition,
