Peasant with basket of gourds, Japan probably c. 1900 (Meiji), bronze partially gilt? Finely crafted robe with dragons and stylized cloud bands, signed in the robe (in the cast). Mounted on a base of dark hardwood, the sides decorated with a phoenix and tendrils in gold lacquer. Slightly rubbed, h. 32 cm
