Chiarina, Meissen, mark 1924-1934, Deputat, model by Paul Scheurich (New York 1883 – Brandenburg 1945) in 1913, model no. A 1004, from the series ”Russian Dancers” from the ballet ”Carnaval”, Inspired by the guest performance of the celebrated Russian ballet ‘Le Carnaval’ after Robert Schumann’s piano cycle in Berlin’s Theater des Westens, Paul Scheurich created the group of figures ‘Russian Ballet’ in 1913. The five dancers were his first and at the same time most successful works for the Meissen manufactory, ballerina standing on a profiled oval base with pillar support in a pose with frilled skirt, hood and two rose petals as well as a mask and fan at her feet, polychrome painted, h. 26.5 cm, Lit.
