123rd Auction

04. December, 2014

Thu, 4th of December from 14:00 pm

Top Results of the 123rd Auction on December 2-4, 2014 at the Historia Auction House

Over 3,300 items from various departments were offered at the December auction at the Historia Auction House in Berlin, most of which were sold well above the limit.

A standout piece was the hand-signed color offset lithograph by Andy Warhol, featuring a portrait of Liz Taylor in five colors. This work is part of a series published by Leo Castelli in NY in 1964 in an edition of approximately 300 unnumbered copies and is hand-signed and dated at the lower edge. The piece, framed under glass, was initially listed at a limit of €12,000 on December 2, 2014, and was eventually sold for €28,000.

A painting attributed to Ludwig Hermann, titled "View of a Belgian City, " depicting an old city by a river with picturesque houses and lively figures, was sold for its starting price of €6,500.

A pair of historicism-style vases from around 1800 stood out for their excellent quality and condition. The red glass vases featured rich white cold enamel painting with leaf tendrils and gold accents. The pair’s price soared from a limit of €380 to €5,500 due to intense bidding.

A pair of earrings with natural pearls and diamond navettes set in white gold also attracted bidders. The natural pearls had very few growth marks, highlighting the earrings’ high quality. Bidders recognized this and raised the price from €1,800 to €6,500.

A porcelain figurine made by Rosenthal in the 1920s based on a design by Karl Himmelstoß, titled "Reverie, " impressed with its size of 55 cm. The figure of a seated male nude deep in thought, holding a cello, was listed with a limit of €600 and sold for €4,200.

Consignments for the upcoming auction are welcome.
