Charlotte Wilhelmine Niels. 1866 Probsteierhagen – 1943 Munich. Blick ins Tal. 1922. oil on canvas, signed a. dated Niels 1922 lower left, 38 x 55 cm, framed 45 x 62,5 cm – The daughter of a Hamburg merchant studied 1886-88 at the Munich academy under L. Herterich, 1894-98 at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and returned to Hamburg in 1898 where she worked as a portraitist. In 1920 she gave up her studio in Hamburg and moved to Munich
