Rudolf Tewes. 1879 – Bremen – 1965. View of La Guaira (Venezuela) from the sea. 1937. watercolor over pencil on paper, signed, inscribed and dated Tewes La Guaira 1/3 1937 lower right, verso inscribed, matted and framed behind glass, minimally stained, matted opening. 17 x 24 cm, unopened – Provenance: Gift of the artist to Theodor Hoffmann (Bremer Kunsthalle) 1950 – After studying at the Munich Academy, Tewes went to Paris for a longer stay around 1904, also traveled to Italy, Spain and South America. In 1927 he settled in Berlin and became a member of the Berlin Secession. He returned to Bremen in 1939.
