Fritz Uphoff. 1890 Witten – 1966 Worpswede. Portfolio with 13 etchings on laid paper. 1923/24 and 1949/50. on enclosed typograph. Sheet inscribed by Herbert Jaeckel (executing copperplate printer) ”Fritz Uphoff began these works in 1949 with the aim of achieving the effect of the painterly in an etching – especially with regard to the cloud formation, which until then had only been indicated in strokes (dashed). His lively, never-ceasing inventive spirit allowed him to achieve his goal to the limit of what was possible. […] For comparison and contrast – in applied technique – to the series of etchings from 1949/50, a drypoint etching from 1923/24 ”Moorkate mit Schiffgraben” is enclosed.
