Heinrich Assmann. 1890 Osnabrück – 1915 Ostrowo/Poland. Two rare woodcuts (handprints) on thin paper: Salomé mit dem Haupt des Johannes, 1914, signed and dated H. Assmann 1914 lower right and inscribed Handdruck No. 1 lower left, matted 34 x 31.5 cm, framed behind glass 36 x 33.5 cm; Ackerfurchen, 1913, signed and inscribed H. Assmann Worpswede 1913 lower right and inscribed Handdruck No. 3 lower left, stained with marginal creases, 35 x 33.5 cm. Frameless, 35 x 33.5 cm, from the estate of Fritz Uphoff – Assmann settled in Worpswede in 1909, where he became a pupil of Georg Tappert. In 1910 he also attended Lovis Corinth’s class in Berlin. From 1911, he lived near Worpswede and had close contact with the painters Heinrich Vogeler, Carl Emil Uphoff and Wilhelm Morgener. He exhibited in Osnabrück for the first time in 1913. He was killed on the Eastern Front in 1915 – From the estate of Fritz Uphoff.
