Fritz Uphoff. 1890 Witten – 1966 Worpswede. Portrait of the publisher and writer Walther von Hollander (1892-1973). Circa 1922. oil on canvas, verso mounted on hardboard with tacks, there inscribed Portrait Walther von Hollander. and signed, 50 x 40.5 cm, framed 55.5 x 45.5 cm – Hollander, expelled from Bavaria in 1920, found refuge at Vogeler’s Barkenhoff. He had brought a printing press with him, which was henceforth called the Hollander press and was used for text and hand prints. Hollander left Worpswede in 1923 – From the artist’s estate.
