Alfred Beier-Red (1902-2001), important German caricaturist, worked mainly for the communist press, such as ”Die Rote Post”, ”Die Rote Fahne” etc., to protect himself from reprisals he usually signed with the pseudonym ”Red”. He was a co-founder of the ”Association of Revolutionary Visual Artists” and from 1946 he worked mainly for ”Neues Deutschland”. His original drawings and graphics are represented in the German Historical Museum, among others, but can hardly be found on the market. Anti-Hitler caricature, three artists make a makeshift restoration of a painting and embellish it with pigtails and a pig’s nose. Ink drawing on wove paper, signed and dated ”Red 76” upper left, Red’s address stamp on verso, traces of glue showing through, sheet dimensions 42 x 43 cm
