Karl May (1901-1976), German-Canadian expressionist who studied in Prague and Vienna. His works were shown in the Feme exhibition ”Degenerate Art” and later destroyed. After several years in Iran, where he taught at the academy in Tehran, he emigrated to Canada. ”Dre Vögel” from his series of reduced animal depictions, ink and watercolor on washed paper, signed and dated ”may 48” lower right, remains of mounting, slight traces of storage, sheet measures 54 x 44.5 cm
