Maximilian Albert Hauschild (1810-1895), View over Naples with Mount Vesuvius in the background. From an elevated vantage point, the painter depicts the city with the bay and Mount Vesuvius in the warm evening light in a panoramic manner. Hauschild, an architect, trained as an architectural painter in Italy, became a professor at the Dresden Academy and a member of it. In 1851, Hauschild moved to Italy, where he lived in Rome and later in Naples and nearby Sorrento. From 1834, Hauschild took part in numerous exhibitions with his atmospheric architectural paintings, particularly in Dresden, but also in Berlin, Cologne and Vienna.
