Ornament on a stand, Sevres, France, 1865, painted on three sides in cameo with three sleeping cupids as allegories of the night, signed “SÉVRES FROMENT.” Stand in the form of three volutes merging into paw feet, painted celadon green, partly patinated bronze, h. 33 cm, The decoration by Eugène Froment, probably after Jean-Louis Hamon. The Parisian painter and book illustrator Eugène Froment (actually Jacques Victor Eugène Froment-Delormel 1821 – 1900) was hired as a porcelain painter in Sèvres in 1853 and worked there for over 30 years. What all these vases have in common are the delicate overglaze decorations in camaieu colors or limited polychromy.
