Flat plate, Sevres, France, year letter for 1789, painter’s signature for Vande pére, gilder and flower painter 1753-1779, and Peierr je jeune, Jean-Jacques, gilder and flower painter 1763-1800, in the mirror a medallion with rose painting, on the rim three cartouches with flower painting, blue ground with the characteristic blue celeste, ornamental gilding, minimally rubbed, Ø 24.5 cm, probably a plate from a service described as ‘fond bleu céleste, Marguerites barbeaux et Roses’, presented by Luis XV as King of France to Archduke Ferdinand of Austria. Ferdinand Karl Anton was married to Maria Beatrice d’Este and brother of Marie-Antoinette. The couple visited Paris from 11 May 1786 to 18 August 1786 and received the service as a gift on this occasion
