Casket with boulle marquetry, France, late 19th c. Rectangular body with beveled corners with hinged lid with lock and key. Ebonized framed fields as root wood veneer with ornamental brass inlays. Inscribed in engraving ”TAHAN Boul(t) of Italy 11” under the lid on the edge of the lock. Interior lined with light blue silk (one spot torn in lid). Slightly rubbed, 12 x 28 x 21 cm
