Boy with bird’s nest, Meissen, mark after 1934, design probably Christian Daniel Hirt ( 1936 Fürth – 1897 Munich) around 1880-1882, model no. M 150 , young boy sitting on a tree trunk above a fluted round base, symbolically dressed with a drapery, holding a bird’s nest in his left hand, the tree trunk overgrown with plants, polychrome painted, gold rims, fire crack, hairline crack, h. 45 cm, Johann Christian Hirt studied at the Munich Academy. He created numerous statues and small sculptures in bronze, marble and silver rubies Early on he was entrusted with commissions for public buildings. For King Ludwig II, he made marble sculptures for Linderhof Palace and Herrenchiemsee. The Meissen manufactory acquired designs for allegorical figures and figures from the Grimm fairy tale world as well as candlesticks and centerpieces for the arts and crafts exhibition in Munich in 1888.
