With only a few sparse lines, a female nude appears in front of a light background, one of the most characteristic motifs in P.R. Keil’s repertoire. While the woman’s body is only hinted at summarily and mysteriously, as it were, and the background in the right-hand field of the picture remains almost unworked, one of those dynamic gestural interventions typical of Keil is unleashed from the upper left, in which directly applied paint is splashed and wiped over at least the upper part of the pictorial motif, thus creating a composition rich in tension.
Mixed media on cardboard, 100 x 70 cm, 2007. Shown in the catalogue raisonné under the number WVZ 0562. Prior to the auction, the work was freshly framed at the specialist dealer Boesner by one of the few expert and fully trained picture framers. In a multi-stage matching process, special emphasis was placed on the coherence between the work and the frame.
