The two charcoal drawings were created during the guest residency at the Xylon Museum in Schwetzingen in 2022. They clearly show how important the line is in P.R.K.’s oeuvre for immediate image making. Dynamically and almost in one sweep, the formulation of a ‘fantasy creature’ on paper is reminiscent of the Surrealists’ practice of ‘ecriture automatique’ and reveals how surely the artist is intuitively driven by his creative inspiration.

Charcoal on paper, 70cm x 100 cm. To be found under the number WVZ7021 in the catalogue raisonné. In the run-up to the auction, the work was freshly framed at the specialist dealer Boesner by one of the few expert and fully trained picture framers. In a multi-stage matching process, special emphasis was placed on the coherence between the work and the frame.

As a special highlight, we offer Peter Robert Keil a personal dedication on the back of the work to the new owner. In this regard, we kindly ask you to send us an e-mail to the Keil Collection Heidelberg with your dedication wishes by 2 October 2022 after acquisition.
