4 large photo albums Asia, around 1910. Very extensive collection of mainly private photos of a trip to Asia. One album stamped on the outside ”S.M.S. Nürnberg”, containing photos of life on board, of ships (including warships), of buildings. Some of the photos in the album inscribed by hand, places mentioned include Tsingtau, Bangkok, Yokohama, Nagasaki. One album (exterior more rubbed and stained, but pages and photos ok) with large-format photos, probably including Rangoon/Myanmar, many photos of temples, locals, village life, etc. An album with photos of Singapore, Shanghai, Nagasaki (partly colored!) etc. first photo handwritten dat 1896, many photos of buildings, locals, partly large format, another album with partly very landscape format photos of ships and harbors, also again trip to Tsingtau etc. Also with menu cards from on board, sheets with chin./japan. Japanese characters, dated 1898, letters, maps, etc. In addition to the albums, single sheets, maps (including the route of the SMS Nürnberg, from Asia to Mexico). Also a German Reich passport, issued ”by the highest special order” in the name of the German Emperor Wilhelm, various Russian stamps on the reverse, dated 1911. Very interesting lot. The four albums each 48 x 33 x 4.5 cm.
